Start of the 2016 Floating Season

We normally expect the floating season to run from June 1 through August 31. Unlike last season where we had low water most of the season, this year it’s just the opposite. The river gage is currently at 6.08 feet which means the river is high enough to cover the beaches and the float time is unusually short. Recent float times are reported to be as fast as 1-1/2 hours from the Plum 2 put-in site to the take-out at Fall City Park. On the other hand, the water temperature is currently 58 degrees compared with 42 degrees at this time last year.

Forecast is for the river to be dropping over the next week. Most floaters seem to feel the “sweet spot” is between 4.0 and 5.0 on the river gage.

Happy floating!

Discovery Passes are required to park in all Washington Dept of Fish and Wildlife lots. This includes Plum 1 (Plum River Access), Plum 2 (Plum Boat Launch) and Zurfleuh (Raging River Boat Launch). Parking is free on one side of the street but you can also be ticketed by the Sheriff if you block access for emergency vehicles.
